SUMMARY OF DUTIES:
Under general supervision of the Executive Director, the Donor Development-Relations position is the person in the major gift category who ensures the successful operation of a comprehensive stewardship program that involves executives, board members and donors. The sustainability rests on the cultivation of donors, donor trust, confidentiality and effective communications. This role requires a creative and innovative close working relationship with the Executive Director. This role will also establish a strategic and systematic focus on closing multi-year commitments from high net worth individuals. Must meet or exceed budget goals. The focus of this position will be to identify and deepen relationships with individuals in southwest Riverside County.
This position is responsible for implementing comprehensive donor relations and donor recognition programs
This position is responsible for oversight of all annual fund programs that meet the goals and objectives of Animal Friends of the Valleys
This position is responsible for establishing and managing information tracking processes regarding acknowledgments, recognitions, on-going communications, and continued cultivation of past and current major donors to enhance the relationship with Animal Friends of the Valleys and increase the likelihood of continued contributions
This position must routinely network with corporate executives, and interact with high-net worth individuals for the purpose of cultivating personal relationships and developing personal giving
Collaborate with colleagues when corporate giving interests are expressed
This position is responsible for seeking and completing grants for specific projects
Responsible for tracking statistics and providing annual report to the foundation or entity for all grants received
This position is responsible for Promoting and closing complex sales such as campaign, endowment, and planned gifts
This position must support the mission, vision, core values and strategic goals of Animal Friends of the Valleys
Must maintain accurate information in Donor Perfect
Assist with outreach and speaking engagements on behalf of Animal Friends of the Valleys
Must be goal oriented and success driven
Must have excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills
Other duties as may be assigned
Responsible for providing monthly and annual reports
QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS AND/OR EDUCATION:
Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in fundraising and program management or an equivalent client-focused environment
Valid California Class “C” driver’s license
Demonstrated skills in writing, organization and attention to detail
Usually will work in an office environment but the mission of the organization may sometimes require performance in a non-standard workplace
Stooping (bend at waist)
Sitting for extended periods of time
Enter data into a computer terminal, operate standard office equipment and telephone use
May be lifting up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance
This position is contingent upon meeting satisfactory funding levels generated by activities related to the job description and is deemed to be self-sufficient. The successful candidate will receive a review after an initial 90 day probationary period as well as an annual review of the employee’s performance on the one (1) year anniversary date of their employment.
At this point, subject to available funding, if the employee is successful in meeting all performance metrics as stated in the job description and other budgeted campaign, funding, and donor development levels have been met or determined to be acceptable, The Donor Development –Relations employee may/will be offered a renewal of their position on an annual basis subject to their continued success.
The Executive Director may elect at any time to evaluate the success and attainment of measured funding levels
